Joan T. Gorman, age 76 of Central Square passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, August 29, 2020 with her family and faithful kitty by her side. Joan was born in Syracuse, NY to the late, Charles and Geraldine (Chubb) Hemings. She was predeceased by her husband, Pete in 2015; her beloved son, Michael G. Collins in 1988 and her sister, Yvonne Ping.
She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Heidi and Scott Claxton; grandchildren, Scott Michael, Shawn and Sarah Claxton; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Aydian, and Ryker; beloved niece, Nora Weston (Jeff) of Missouri; and extended family and friends.
Joan proudly owned and operated her own pizza shop in Elbridge, NY for many years and then went onto work various jobs until retiring. She enjoyed gardening, baking and was very active with the neighborhood kids. Joan was an avid Dale Earnhardt SR. and JR. fan for many years and an animal lover, especially her kitty, Sandy. She was known as Nin-Nin by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and their friends. She was a hardworking and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Joan will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2020 from 1 pm to 3 pm at New Comer Cremations and Funerals with a funeral service to follow at 3 pm. Burial will be held privately in West Monroe Cemetery.
