Joan Szymanoski
November 26, 2014
Joan Szymanoski, 78, of North Syracuse, a loving wife, mom, Grandma and Great-Grandma, departed for the heavens early Wednesday morning surrounded by family. Joan waged a short but courageous battle against cancer but always kept her faith that the Lord had a plan for her and would see her through.
Joan's family was her life, but her door was always opened to anyone in need. She was fiercely devoted to her children. Right or wrong, she stood by them. For many years, her fulltime job was taking care of her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was always active and belonged to many organizations, including North Syracuse Senior Group, Knights of Columbus, Columbiettes, Happy Times Club, Hands Hearts and Health Club and was an auxillary member of the American Legion Post 1832, Mattydale.
Joan is survived by her loving husband, Leonard (December 4th would have been their 49th wedding anniversary), daughter, Deborah (Wynn) Tousley; sons, John, Richard (Brenda), Leonard Jr. (Michelle), Andrew and Kevin; brother, James (Patricia) Conners; many grandchildren and many great- grandchildren.
A service will be held Thursday, December 4th at 10AM at St. Rose of Lima Church, S. Main St., N. Syracuse. At Joan's request, there are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ALSAC/St. Jude, 2 Pine West Plaza, Suite 202, Albany, NY 12205.
