Joan C. Frye, 76 of North Syracuse passed away Thursday. Born in Albany to William and Lucile Chapman, she moved to the Syracuse area soon after marrying and having her first child. In addition to raising four sons, she worked for Mel-Rae Nursing Home and Medical Personnel Pool, and volunteered at AIDS Community Resources. Joan was a member of Pitcher Hill Community Church.
Joan was predeceased by her husband, Leonard V. Frye in 1988.
She is survived by sons David J. (Walter Bobbie) of New York City, William S. (Deborah Hamilton) of North Syracuse, Lawrence J. (Robin Damrad) of Fairport, and Leonard A. of Pineville, NC; grandchildren Will (Angel Hutchins), Lily, Miranda, Phillip, Amos, Josh, and Julia; and great grandchildren Derek, Marissa, and soon-to-be Cyrus.
Calling hours will be Monday from 4-7 PM at Pitcher Hill Church, 605 Bailey Road, North Syracuse, New York 13212. Funeral Service will follow at 7 PM, at the church. Burial will be Tuesday, 10 AM at Riverview Cemetery, Baldwinsville, New York.
The family would like to thank PACE CNY and Joan's home care aides for the wonderful care they gave her.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Pitcher Hill Community Church or AIDS Community Resources, 627 West Genesee Street, Syracuse, New York 13204.
