Jerry A. Ellis

Jerry Ellis died peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. He was 72 years old. He grew up in Port Byron, lived the bulk of his adult years in Syracuse and the last seven in Cicero, NY.

Jerry was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Sabretta (Debois) Ellis. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Diana; his son, Marc (Jennifer); his daughters, Jami (Tim) Waldron and Geri (Brian) Harrington; seven grandchildren, Timothy, Josh, Talon, Travis, Alyssa, Jazzlyn and Chase; three Brothers, four Sisters and a multitude of Nieces, Nephews and Great-Nieces and Nephews.

Jerry's family was in the contracting business. He followed suit opening Jerry Ellis Roofing and Siding. In retirement, he continued working, setting up tents for parties.

Next to family, Jerry's passions were playing cards with family and friends and fishing. From one extreme to the other, he would get riled up when Lady Luck dealt him a bad hand, but the next day he could sit back and relax at the fishing hole. He also enjoyed camping and in later years, enjoyed the Adirondack Mountains. Also in his later years, he became quite the traveler. He enjoyed family reunion trips around the country, even cruises to Mexico and beyond.

Services will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals in North Syracuse, NY on Friday, January 31, 2025 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm. Jerry's wish was to be cremated and to no surprise, his ashes are to be placed in his favorite fishing hole.

To everyone who knew and liked or loved him, Jerry's family would like to thank you all. Thank you for being a part of and bringing so much joy to his life. We're sure it meant a lot to him and that certainly means a lot to us.
