Jeannine Motolo (90) of Camillus passed away June 20 at St Joseph's hospital after a brief illness. Born in Plattsburgh NY, she met and married her husband, Frank, while he was stationed there in the US Army. A transfer brought them to Syracuse.
In Syracuse, she quickly became an avid volunteer. Whether in her children's schools, our family parish, or just a neighbor in need, our mother couldn't say no. She was a long-standing member of the Altar and Rosary Society and through the years volunteered at Loretto, The Bernadine, St Patrick's, St Charles, St Camillus, the Board of Elections, and what is now, ARC of Onondaga. When her mother aged, she welcomed our uncle with Downs Syndrome into our home.
Her interests and hobbies were varied. She enjoyed art, music, theater, movies, and especially loved antiquing. She became extremely knowledgeable of the history and value of any item, often being asked to price items for estate sales. (She even loved to remind our father of his history and value as he aged.)
Our mother enjoyed laughing, and she loved making others laugh too. She was a strong, determined, and extremely generous person. No one left her home empty-handed. Whether it was food, money, an item you admired, or a piece of her mind, everybody left with something.
She was predeceased by her husband of 65yrs, Francis (91) in 2021. She is survived by her daughter Patricia (Joseph) Snyder, sons Perry and Paul, grandsons Joseph and Marko, and a great grand-daughter, Charlotte.
Per her wishes, there will be no calling hours. Services will be at Arlington National Cemetery where she will be interred with our father at a date to be determined. Family correspondence can be mailed to PO Box 494, Syracuse, NY 13209. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ARC of Onondaga Foundation to help people with developmental disabilities at https://www.arcon.org/donate/
