Jean M. Downey
Jean M. Downey, 84, of North Syracuse passed away Saturday at home with her family by her side. Jean was a graduate of St. John's High School in Syracuse. She worked at Western Union during WWII. She also spent 27 years at Farmers & Traders Insurance until her retirement. Jean was a NFL fan and lifetime Yankees fan, from Ruth to Jeter. Jean bowled for many years at Bowling Green. Jean enjoyed crafting and flower gardening. Above all, she was a loving mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her sons, Michael (Candy), David (Peggy) and John (Mary) Downey; her brother Joe Judge; 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, nieces and a nephew.
Services will be 10am Wednesday at St. Rose of Lima Church. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Syracuse. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4-7 pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse.
Contributions may be made to Hospice Foundation of CNY.
