Jean Ann Downton

Jean Ann Downton, 94, of Syracuse, passed away on December 27, 2024. 

Jean was born on October 29, 1930, in Watertown, New York, to Eugene and Edna Darby. 

Jean worked for Herr's fashion shop for many years before becoming manager of the toy department at F.W. Woolworths. 

She was very outgoing. In her free time, she enjoyed bowling, winning several tournaments, including a championship, shopping, and spending time with her family. 

She was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Darby; mother, Edna; former spouse, Jim D. Downton; and son, Mark D. Downton.

She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie (Robert) Gerton; granddaughter, Jennelle Gerton; grandson, Ronyell Gerton; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call on Sunday, January 12, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N. Main St, N. Syracuse, NY, with a service at 3:00 pm. A repast will be held at 5:00 pm at the Spinning Wheel Restaurant, 7384 Thompson Rd, North Syracuse, NY 13212
