Jean A. Burns
December 22, 1942 — February 29, 2020
Jean Ann (Austin) Burns, 77, of Cicero, NY and Deerfield Beach, FL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 29, 2020, after a long and hard fought battle with lung cancer.
She was born in Batavia, NY, daughter of the late John and Jennie (DiCasolo) Austin. She was raised in Fairport, NY and graduated from Fairport High School. She then resided in Victor, NY where she worked at Opipari's Restaurant, The Blacksmith Shop and Hunt's Homes Sales. Her next adventure took her to Florida where she worked as a Loan Officer for SunTrust Bank which she retired from after several years.
Along with her parents, Jean was predeceased by her brother, John Austin II.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Burns; her sister, Linda Wilson; her five children, Ronald (Elke) Zito, Wendy (Graham) Simpson, Brett (Karoline) Zito, Robin (David) Gabel, and Wendy (Michael) Dempsey; 11 grandchildren, Brooke, Antonio, Shawn, Elena, Carly, Jack, Dylan, Ryan, Jordan, Brendan, Jenna; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at HOA Brittonfield and St. Joseph's Hospital for wonderful care.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N Main St, N Syracuse, NY, on Thursday, March 5, 2020 from 4-7pm. A funeral mass will be held at St Rose of Lima Church, 407 S Main St, N Syracuse, NY 13212, on Friday, March 6, 2020 at 10am.
There will be a spring burial at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Victor, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Special Olympics at specialolympics-ny.org.
