Jay "Sparky" Tarbell, Jr., 65, of North Syracuse, passed away on Monday following a brief struggle with cancer. He was born on July 4, 1947 in Syracuse.
Jay was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the US Marine Corps. and was in the Air National Guard during Desert Storm, retiring in 1998. He retired from Ironworkers Local 60 in 2001. Jay was a member of the VFW Post # 7290 and the American Legion in Mattydale. Jay enjoyed golfing and was a Redskins Fan.
Surviving are his wife Kathy, of 46 years, daughter, Sharon Tarbell, son, John Tarbell, 8 grandchildren; Kayla, Tiffany, David, Justin, Hayley, Brittany, Kristina & Dakota, 4 great grandchildren; Jenna, Caedyn, Bailian & Gage, 4 brothers; Claude, Radford, Darrel, Kevin & sister, Claudette, along with several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4-6:30pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., North Syracuse, with services to follow at the funeral home.
A reception will follow at the VFW Post # 7290 (Maxwell Ave.) after the services.
