Janice G. (Atkinson) Scott, 89, passed away on Saturday, July 31st. She was born January 18, 1932 in Syracuse, NY to the late Vera Mae and George Atkinson. Janice's mother died when Janice was 6 so she was raised by her grandmother in Utica, NY, returning to Syracuse at age 16. She met the love of her life, Fred Scott and married in 1950.
Janice was predeceased by her husband of 65 years; grandson, Charlie and her cousin, Bette Moul.
She is survived by her daughters, Pamela Pinto, Patricia Scott, Teresa Scott and Constance Scott-Vecchio (Terry); son, Fred Scott, Jr. (Katie); 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and Jazzie, her dearly beloved cat.
Mom was deeply loved by so many. She was a farm girl at heart who loved her garden, canning, baking, making pies and taking care of her family and home. She especially loved to knit blankets for babies at Crouse Hospital and she was passionate about knitting mittens for inner city children. She loved to vacation with her family in St. John USVI and Brantigham Lake in ADK.
To honor our mother's wishes there will be no service and burial will be private. Donations can go to Humane Association of CNY.
We would like to extend a special thanks and gratitude to Dr. Mary Daye for her years of caring for our mother, especially for her guidance through this difficult time.
