Janet "Jan" E. Shutters passed away on Sunday at home.
She grew up in Syracuse and has lived in the Baldwinsville area for several years. Jan graduated from St. Ann's High School in 1966 and retired from Frazer & Jones after 19 years. Jan very much enjoyed music and her favorite pastime was playing bingo. She loved her family and helped care for her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who were very dear to her heart. She also had a love for children with special needs. Jan loved all animals and collected animal figurines.
Surviving are her longtime companion, Robert Spier, her son Eric (Jennifer) Bittel, daughter Jennifer Bivens, 5 grandchildren; Tieara, Kaitlin, Mikayla, Evan & Collin, 2 great grandchildren; 3 sisters; Jacqueline (Tim) Donigan, Patricia (John) Haley, Mary (Van) Bartlett, along with several nieces and nephews.
Services will be private. A memorial service will be held in the spring.
Contributions may be made to the Lakeland Fire Dept., St. Jude's Childrens Hospital or to the ASPCA.
