Janet Elizabeth Marsh, of Hastings, passed away Sunday surrounded by family.
Survivors include her husband of 48 years, William W. Marsh and five children, Cheryl (Dave) Weaver of Arcadia FL, Leslie (Bob) Berlan of Boston MA, Kent (Diane)Marsh of Pennellville NY , William (Dawn) Marsh of Bridgeport NY, and Bill (Gail) Kisselstein of Mexico NY; 12 grandchildren, Heather, Tammie, David, Tonya, Amy, Tim, Arthur Jr., Jacob, Billy, Steven, Noel, and Carter; brother Grant Cummings and sister Mary Shapp.
She was predeceased by her parents Carlton & Olga Cummings, brother Carl, sister Anne & son Arthur.
Janet met her husband while working at General Electric in Liverpool NY. She later pursued her LPN and went to work at the Syracuse Veteran's Hospital and retired from Syracuse Developmental Center. While working and raising her family Janet became actively involved in Super Modified Racing as an Oilzum Motor Oil Distributor in the mid 60's which led to her becoming the first woman allowed to enter the "Race Pits" of Fulton and Oswego Speedways. She had a great love of all Animals and raised Goats, as well as Llamas. In her later years Janet enjoyed working with beads and doing local Craft Shows.
Visitation 5-7PM on Thursday at New Comer Funeral Home, N. Syracuse. A funeral service will follow at 7pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CNY SPCA.
