(Bessie) Jane Stockdale Stacey, 91, passed away peacefully on 11/26/2012, at St. Joseph's Hospital, in Syracuse, NY. Born in Birmingham, AL in 1921, she spent most of her life in Gainesville, FL. For the last eight years, she lived in Fayetteville, NY. She worked as a nurse during WWII and continued her career of caring at the Shands Teaching Hospital and the VA Hospital in Gainesville, FL until her retirement in the early 1980s. She loved reading, gardening and most of all, spending time with her family.
Surviving are her brother, William Stockdale, of Vancouver, BC, Canada; her children, James Edgar (Jane Gershaw) Stacey Jr., of Dewitt, NY, Daphne Lynn Stacey, of Gainesville, FL, Gregory Boyd Stacey, of Zephyrhills, FL; her grandchildren, Elizabeth P. Abraham, of New Haven, CT, Timothy E. Stacey, of Madison, WI; and great grandson, Almanzo N. Abraham. She was pre-deceased by her husband, James E. Stacey Sr. and her son, Jeffrey Warren Stacey.
Funeral service will be private.
