Jane Doreen Rookey

Jane Doreen Rookey, 74, of North Syracuse, passed away June 25, 2023. Jane was born in Rochester, New York on June 18, 1949 to Ralph and Wilhelmina Bohrer. Jane was employed with The Chateue Retirement Home, Virginia Beach. She was a Navy Ombudsman for various naval activities during her husband Art's, 26 year career, in addition to taking care of her three sons. In her free time, Jane enjoyed cooking for her family, particularly known for her spaghetti and Christmas cookies. She also loved singing and playing karaoke. Jane was a an avid collector of jewelry and trinkets. She was an adoring wife, mother and grandmother who had a kind heart. Jane was willing to help anyone no matter the time or place.

She was preceded in death by parents, Ralph and Wilhelmina "Billie" Bohrer; brother, Edward Bohrer; nephew, Shaun Bohrer; and brother in law, Howard Ayers.

Jane is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Art Rookey; three sons, Michael (Christina) Rookey, Jon (Cathy) Rookey, and Alan (Amy) Rookey; grandchildren, Cameron, Jillianna, Dakota, Dustin, Madison, Allison, and Kyle; sister in laws, Wanda Ayers and Linda Bohrer; niece, Tammy (Rob) Davis and nephews Steve (Janine) Ayers and Brian (Melissa) Bohrer.

Calling hours will be held Friday, July 7, 2023 from 6-8PM at New Comer Cremations and Funerals with a funeral service immediately following. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jane's memory to Hospice of CNY.
