Jan Richard Bowles of 11 Appalachian Drive Grantville PA died November 26, 2014 at home. Jan was born in Ashtabula Ohio to Alfred O Bowles and Peggy Anne Marston on June 26, 1949. He grew up and schooled in Syracuse, NY. Jan was a medic veteran of the Vietnam War and Founder of UISIOM (Unity is Seen in Open Minds Not Closed Thoughts) a net work for Esoteric Theosophical Discussions & Writings. Jan was a lover of animals and the outdoors, you could always find him camping – hiking – canoeing or kayaking. Jan also loved playing volleyball, chess and horseshoes.
In 2013 Jan was predeceased by his loving wife Joni Pfautz after 25 yrs of togetherness. He also was predeceased by his father Alfred – brothers Kim Paul, Ted and Bill.
Jan is survived by his mother Peggy and sisters Patricia Arcaro, Carol Phillips, Joann Germond along with brothers George, Bob, Paul and Ron. Jan also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Jan had many supportive and dedicated friends through out PA and NY areas along with his pets, dog Omaoq, macaw parrot Jazz, and cockatiel Pierre; three special animals.
A memorial service to celebrate Jan's life will be held on Saturday, Dec 6th 2014 at 4 PM in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 705 North Main Street, North Syracuse, NY. Friends are invited to greet the family from 3 PM until time of the service.
