James D. Thompson, affectionately known as the Candyman, was born on July 6, 1941 to the late Homer and Gertrude Thompson in Mullins, South Carolina. He departed this earth to be with the Lord on Friday, October 29, 2021.
He is survived by four daughters, Pauline (Leroy) Grant, Paulette Thompson, Tonya Odom, and Rev. Lenora (Alvin) Bonaparte and one son, James Odom. He also leaves to cherish his memory his companion of many years, Lois Echols, and two sisters-in-law; Muna Mustafa and Virginia Thompson. Cherishing his memory is also his 21 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
James was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He cared deeply for all his family and he will be truly missed.
Calling hours will be Saturday, November 6th from 9am-11am, with funeral service to immediately follow. Both will take place at The Connected Christian Church at 107 E. Beard Ave, Syracuse, NY 13205. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Syracuse.
