James "Jimmy" Victor Russo sadly passed away on August 31, 2020. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He is survived by his loving wife Patricia Russo of 33 years, his son, Christopher (Dana) Russo of Baldwinsville, NY, his step-children Patricia Wilson of Gresham, TX, Phillip LaFlair of Mexico, NY and Robert LaFlair of Central Square, NY. He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Graedin, Makaelin and Graeclin Russo and Jea Oram, as well as, his seven step-grandchildren Jessie Clary, Alisa and Morgan LaFlair, and Bryana, Kaylie, Valery and Melany LaFlair, as well as 1 great grandson and 6 step-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Jimmy was born in Syracuse, NY to James and Josephine Russo on May 4, 1944. He served in the Vietnam War from 1968-1970. After returning to Syracuse, he was self employed, owning Jim Russo's Collision Service, along with being a carpenter and handyman before his retirement. Jimmy had a passion for old cars, hot rods, golfing, gathering at Thee Diner to grab coffee, chat and meet with friends both old and new. He also loved and enjoyed being a part of the Ford Shelby Mustang Club who he considered a second family. Jimmy lit up any room he entered, had an amazing sense of humor, loved to talk and his contagious laugh could turn anyone's bad day into a good day.
Family and friends are invited to calling hours which will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, N. Syracuse, on Thursday, September 3, 2020 from 6-8 with a service to follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: The Upstate Foundation Fund 01350 to support Pediatric Cancer Care, 750 East Adams Street, CAB326, Syracuse, NY 13210 for his granddaughter, Graeclin Russo who is battling a rare autoimmune cancer.
