James J. Mckeown

April 9, 1927 — November 22, 2016

James J. McKeown, 89, formerly of Whitesboro, NY, passed away on Tuesday at the Teresian House, Albany, NY.

Beloved husband of Margaret "Peggy" (Gildea) for 62 years. Devoted father of James McKeown and his wife Karen of Cicero, NY, Thomas McKeown and his wife Linda of Marston Mills, MA, Jane Woods and her husband Jerry of Plymouth, MA, Kevin McKeown of Binghamton, NY, the late Michael McKeown and his wife Sharon of Boulder, CO, Molly Erickson and her husband Woody of Manlius, NY, and Karen McKeown of Albany, NY. Loving "Pop" of his grandchildren: Meghan, Courtney, David, Mark, Spencer, and Michaela. Great grandfather of Avrie and Lucy. Brother of Marian Roski, Gene McKeown, the late Robert McKeown and the late Anne McKeown. Son of the late Mary (O'Brien) and James McKeown. Brother-in-law of the late Marion and Jerry Meehan. James is also survived by many dear cousins, in-laws, nieces and nephews. Jim was a graduate of St. Mary HS and King's College, Wilkes-Barre, PA. McKeown enjoyed a 35-year career in systems management at G.E, Link Aviation and Chicago Pneumatic. He was also a proud United States Army World War II veteran.

Memorial mass to be held at Jim's home parish of St. Paul's in Whitesboro, NY on Monday, December 5 at 11:30 a.m. James was also a longtime parishioner of St. Anne's in Whitesboro (until its closing) where he was a Eucharistic Minister. There will be no calling hours. At a later date in the spring, there will be a service to inter both Peggy and Jim in their family cemetery of St. Mary's in PA.
