James J. Mahar, 79 of North Syracuse passed away with family by his side on March 3, 2023. He was born in Syracuse, NY on August 24, 1943.
James was a kind soul and the definition of a family man. Everyone in his "family village" called him Papa and he acted as a grandfather to many. He was a very loving father, and especially loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his Wife, Stephanie Mahar; Parents; Four Sisters; and a Brother.
James is survived by his Children, James Mahar Jr. and Kristine (Les) Murray; Grandchildren, Justin (Erika), Mandie (Anthony), Jordan; Great-Grandchildren, Casey and Ava; and all of his "Adopted" Grandchild and Great-Grandchildren.
Calling hours for James will be held on March 11, 2023 from 12:00pm to 3:00pm with a Sharing of Memories to follow.
In lieu of flowers memorial contribution can be made in James' name to St. Jude Children's Hospital and Hospice of CNY.
