James M. Cashin

James M. "Jim" Cashin, 74, of Clay passed away at University Hospital on Saturday after a long illness. He was born at home in Skaneateles Falls, son of Edward and Rosina (McLaughlin) Cashin. Jim served in the US Army from 1962-64 and retired from Terrell's Potato Chip Co. in 2006 as plant manager. He was a member of the American Legion in Cicero, he enjoyed traveling with his wife, spending time with family, taking bike rides & long walks with his grandchildren. Jim also liked watching old westerns and telling tall tales.
Surviving are his wife Nancy (Manley), of 50 years, son, Mark Cashin of Mattydale, 3 daughters, Mary (Nicolas) Nemr of N. Syracuse, Michelle (Michael) Napier of Clay, Lisa (Ronald) Overton of the Bronx, 10 grandchildren, Ashley Napier, Ian, Marrielle, Alec Nemr, Khalil, Isiah Turner, Jonah, Aliyah, Kimorah, Aniyah Overton, 2 brothers, John "Hub"(Sally) Cashin of Skaneateles, Peter (Kathryn) Cashin of Auburn, along with several nieces, nephews, and Godchildren.
Predeceased by his 4 sisters, Helen Davey, Kathleen "Kelly" Cashin, Nora Richardson and Ina Cashin.
Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4-8pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., North Syracuse. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday 10am at Sacred Heart Church in Cicero. Burial will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery, Skaneateles.
