James A. Francis, 77, of Central Square, passed away March 20, 2023.
James was born in Syracuse, New York on June 26, 1945 to James and Eleanor Francis.
Jimmy was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corp. He retired from Plumbers and Steam Fitters Local 81 (formerly Local 54) and was a Nuclear Welder at Nine Mile in Oswego. Jimmy volunteered at John Hancock Air Port in the Military Courtesy Room greeting soldiers. He enjoyed trading stories with fellow servicemen. He was an eclectic man with many interests Country Two-Step Dancing, Professional Sled-Dog Racing, and traveled to Alaska three times for work and leisure, even working on a fishing and whaling boat. Jimmy was an avid outdoorsman who loved horses and attending horse shows. He loved animals and his dogs, Murphy and Jake. He lived for his children and grandchildren and he took great pride in watching them grow.
He was preceded in death by Father, James E. Francis; Mother, Eleanor Francis.
He is survived by his Two Sons, Scott (Deanna) Francis, Shaun (Julie) Francis; Daughter, Hope (Tom) Bathrick; Grandchildren, Blake, Brody, Helaina, Bella, Micah and London; Cousins, Patti, Sandy and Bobby.
Family and friends may call on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 from 10:00 am-12:00 pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals - North Syracuse, 705 N. Main St, Syracuse, where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 12:00 pm. Interment at Hillside Cemetery will be held in the Spring.
