James E. Ray Sr.

James E. Ray Sr., 70, of W. Monroe, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, with family at his side. Jimmy's faith in Jesus Christ was a source of strength and joy to everyone through this challenging time.
He was a member of the Mallory Wesleyan Church where he was involved in many ministries including, the Monday Night Golf League. He graduated from Central Square High School in 1964. He was the first State Wrestling Champion from Central Square, in 1963. He was an Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War, in Bien Hoa, Vietnam where he earned numerous commendations. After retiring from Bell Atlantic (Verizon), he worked for the local Walmart and the Greenview Golf and Country Club. He was an avid golfer and fisherman.
He is survived by his wife, the former Connie Chapman; a son, James E. Jr.; daughter, Michelle (Jerry Pinnelli) Lupton and Annette (Thomas Ray) Ray; stepsons, Darryl (Dee Kerby) Cook, Keith (Bridgett) Cook; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two nephews, Daniel and Rick; a niece, Christine.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at 6 PM at the Mallory Wesleyan Church, 5 Baum Road, Mallory, NY 13103. A dessert reception will follow after services at the church.
