James E. "Jim" Odell, 52, of N. Syracuse, passed away on Thursday at St. Joseph's Hospital with his wife Vicki by his side. He was born in Rochester, NY son of Charles and Carol Odell. Jim was a graduate of ESF School of Forestry and was a longtime employee of Sweetheart Market for many years. He was last employed at First Student as a bus driver, he was in the Peace Corps. for 3 years, in the Philippines, he loved to barbeque and organize family & friend picnics. He enjoyed golfing, was an SU Fan and was a former member of the Camillus Elks. Jim was a devoted "Pappa" to his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Vicki, stepchildren: Emily, Vincent, Nicholas & Victor Oliver, grandchildren: EllaRae & Jesse (Bubby) Price and Vinnie Oliver, his parents, brother, John (Audrey) Odell, Susan (Ray) Brown, Ann (David) Bridge, along with several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4-7pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse. A memorial service will be held on Wed. 11am at the funeral home.
