James F. Darby, 80 of North Syracuse passed away Friday at home. Born in Cohoes, NY, he retired from Crouse Hinds after 38 years. James was a WWII veteran serving with Patton's 3rd Army and was part of the Normandy Invasion landing on Omaha Beach. He was a past Vice Commander of the Cicero American Legion Post 787 and a past member of the 40/8. He is predeceased by a son, James W., 2 grandsons, James A. and Michael P.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Schatz; 5 sons, David, Kevin, Brian, Dennis and Alan Darby; a sister, Betty Mallett; 6 grand-children and 2 great grandchildren.
Services will be Monday, 7PM at New Comer Family Funeral Home, North Syracuse. Friends are invited to visit with his family on Monday from 4-7PM, at the funeral home, before services.
Contributions can be made to the American Heart Assn.
