James Howard Colton
July 7, 1930 — December 21, 2022
James Howard Colton, 92, of East Syracuse, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 21, 2022. He was born in Malone, New York, the only child of the late Harold and Charlotte Colton. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Hideko Koyama Colton.
He is survived by his children, Carl Goro (Marie) Colton of Sarasota, Florida; and Charles James (Lisabeth) Colton of Binghamton; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
James graduated from the Adirondack School of Commerce before enlisting in the Army during the Korean War. Owing to his business skills, he served in Yokohama, Japan, where he met Hideko in 1952. He worked with the U.S. Postal Service for 29 years, retiring in 1993.
James was a devoted husband and father who stopped at nothing to ensure his two boys grew up in a loving and happy home. He was a member of the North Syracuse Baptist Church.
A Memorial Service for James will be held on May 5, 2023 from 11:00am to 11:30am with a burial at White Chapel to follow.
