James Todd "JT" Chetwin, 45, of Syracuse, passed away January 1, 2024.
James was born in Syracuse, New York on July 16, 1978 to James Chetwin.
JT started his career working with youth when he was still young himself, at age 19. He was very passionate about his career and the positive life impact he had on the youth he worked with. JT served as Unit Director of the East Fayette St. Boys & Girls Club and was employed with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Syracuse from 1997-2009. JT was recently promoted, to Director of Hillbrook Detention Center in Syracuse. He worked at Hillbrook from 2008 until his passing. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Social Work, Summa Cum Laude from Kueka College in January 2022.
JT's family, friends and beloved dog Max were the center of his world. He became like a second father to his nephew & nieces and cherished every second of their time together. If JT knew you needed help with anything he was the first to step up. You were blessed if had the pleasure of knowing him.
JT's legacy will live on forever through all the lives he's touched.
He is survived by his Father, James; Sister, Stacy Brown; Nephew, Isaiah Hanlan; Two Nieces, Aliyah Hanlan and Jatianah "JT" Brown; Two Aunts, Jodi Brady and Debra (Gary) Dwyer; Uncle, Gary Chetwin; beloved Dog, Max; As well as many cousins and friends.
