James L. Bucher, 71, of Liverpool, passed away on March 21, 2025. James was born in Syracuse, New York, on January 9, 1954, to Edwin and Mary (Ryan) Bucher.
A hardworking and dedicated man, James spent his career working for various paving companies and retired from Lavallee Paving in Syracuse. He took great pride in his work and would always point out the driveways or parking lots that he had worked on.
Beyond his career, James was a devoted father and grandfather who found his greatest joy in his family. He was an avid New York sports fan, cheering passionately for the Giants and Yankees. In his free time, he enjoyed bowling, camping, attending concerts, and golfing with his sons—cherished moments that brought him happiness. Among his greatest joys was being a grandparent to his grandson, Kaplan, with whom he shared a special bond.
James was a man of deep love and generosity, always putting his children first. No holiday or special occasion passed without his thoughtful touch, and Christmas was his favorite time of year—he never failed to go above and beyond to make it magical. His kind heart, sense of humor, and unwavering dedication to his family will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Tracy (Haygood) Bucher, and his second wife, Judy (Fortino) Bucher. James is survived by his loving sons, Jacob and Joshua (Jessica) Bucher; his grandson, Kaplan; and his siblings, Kathy, Terry, Maureen, Mark, and Billy.
