James A. Martin

James A. Martin, 63, of Syracuse passed away on Wednesday evening at home surrounded by his family. Jim fought a courageous nine year battle with cancer.
Born in Streator, Illinois, he was a lifelong resident of the Syracuse area. He graduated from St. John the Evangelist and the Steamfitters Local 267 apprentice program. Jim had an amazing career as a certified nuclear welder, working on projects including Nine Mile, Budweiser and Crouse Hospital. As an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing. For many years he was an avid Harley rider and the proud owner of an award winning 1923 T Bucket.
Surviving are his daughters, Sandi Martin and Shelley (Vincent Rollen) Martin of Phoenix, AZ; his loving companion, Princess; brothers, Andrew (Mary Merritt), John (Nancy), George (Patricia) and Robert (Carolyn) Martin; sisters, Mary (Riley) McFetridge, Therese (Bill) Lanoue and Anne (Dan) Bradshaw, several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 2-5 on Saturday at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse. Services and burial will be private.
