Irmgard Franziska Scherfner (Lewandowski) 90 of Baldwinsville NY passed away on Saturday at Michaud Residential Health Services in Fulton NY.
She was predeceased by her husband Gunter George Scherfner.
She was born in Danzig Germany on May 5 1925 to Albert Lewandowski and Clara Ellenberger. Her first job upon moving to Syracuse in 1965 was working at the Miss Syracuse Diner in Syracuse and later at General Electric in Liverpool.
Irma traveled extensively living in such places as Cornwall Canada, Casablanca Morocco, Venezuela, and Liberia Africa traveling with her husband who held many international jobs. Irma retired in Daytona Beach before moving back to Syracuse. Irma was a ballerina in her younger days and performed at the Danzig Theatre in Germany. We all will remember her special smile and love for life. She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Baldwinsville NY.
Surviving to cherish her memory is Karin (Greg) Smith of Albuquerque New Mexico, Bob (Clara)Scherfner of Liverpool NY, sister Helga Lewandowski in Wismar Germany – grandchildren Jennifer, Brian (Sharon), Chad (Celena) and Sarah (Sean), great grandchildren Tessa, Bowen, Sabrina, Karter, Alexander and Alana and nieces and nephews in Germany.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Food Pantry.
Calling will be held on Friday Jan. 29th from 4-7pm at New Comer Funeral Home, N. Syracuse.
A funeral mass will be held on Sat. 10am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Baldwinsville.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
