Irene E. Pollastro, 82, of Syracuse, passed away on Saturday with her family by her side. Irene was a strong willed woman; she was the matriarch of her family. She enjoyed dancing, cooking, baking, sewing, sharing recipes; but most of all, she loved her time and Sunday meals with her family. She always supported her family in whatever they did. Irene was adored by all who knew her and was a Mom to so many of her children's and grandchildren's friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, Mary and Steve Tanuska; brothers, Steve and Tommy Tanuska and former husband, Nick Pollastro.
Irene is survived by her children, Tessa Pollastro and Nicholas (Lisa) Pollastro; sister to Tessa and Nicholas, Carmella (Claude) Arnold; grandchildren, Nichole (Frank), Francesca (Whitney), Nicholas and Leah; great-grandchildren, Angelina, Jazmine, Kourtney, Melissa and Vinny; great great-granddaughter, Amiyah; siblings, Theresa Hartranft and Paul (Deb) Tannish; sister-in-law and best friend, Roz Pollastro and many nieces, nephews and several close friends.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 15th 4-7PM at New Comer Cremations & Funerals with a service to follow at 7PM.
