Ina C. Mitchell
November 18, 2009
Ina C. Mitchell, 76, of Clay, passed away Wednesday at home with her family by her side.
Ina was born and raised in Johnstown, PA, the oldest of six children of Dean and Ann Livingston. At the age of sixteen she received Christ as her personal Lord and Savior and dedicated her life to His service, a dedication she was faithful in serving to the very end of her life.
She was a graduate of Bob Jones University. She loved and was active in Gospel music. In addition to playing the piano in church, she sang in a trio with her two sisters. The Livingston sisters sang in churches in the greater Johnstown area and for Youth for Christ rallies. They also sang on the radio and television. In later years, she would sing with her husband in church.
A dedicated teacher, she taught in seven different Christian schools in New York and Pennsylvania, teaching anywhere from Pre-K to sixth grade. She also enjoyed a fruitful teaching ministry in Sunday School and Ladies Bible studies.
Her great desire was to be a pastor's wife. God granted her this desire when teaching in the territory of Hawaii. There she met and married Her husband John. Together, they served for over forty years in six different churches. She was a tremendous assest and helpmeet.
In addition to her husband, she was the Mother of five children, John Jr., Jennifer, Steve, Laureen and April. She was also the Grandmother of fifteen grandchildren. All of her children and grandchildren enjoyed and cherish the love she had for them all.
She is now in the presence of the Savior she loved deeply and served faithfully!
Her favorite verses were from Colossian 3:2-4:
Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
When Christ, who is our life, shall appear,
then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
Services will be Saturday 3PM at Grace Baptist Church, 17 Oneida River Rd, Pennellville, NY. Friends may visit with the family from 1-3PM before the services at the church.
