Hideko Koyama Colton, 86, of East Syracuse, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 1, 2019. She was born in Yokohama, Japan, to the late Goro and Yaeko Koyama. She was predeceased by her brothers, Noboru and Teruo Koyama.
She is survived by her loving husband, James Howard Colton of East Syracuse; sister, Setsuko of Yokohama; her children, Carl Goro (Marie) Colton of Lititz, Pennsylvania, and Charles James (Lisabeth) Colton of Binghamton; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Hideko survived the bombing of Yokohama on May 29, 1945, before following her husband to America in 1958. She was a devoted wife and mother who found her greatest joy in loving and caring for her two boys. She was a member of the North Syracuse Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse, on Tuesday, November 5, at 10am. A memorial service will be held at 11am, with burial to follow at White Chapel Memory Gardens in DeWitt.
