Helene C. Benware-Hilton April 19, 2009
Helene C. Benware-Hilton, 78, of Liverpool , passed away Sunday, April 19, 2009, at home. Helene was born in Glens Falls , NY and lived in the Syracuse area since 1957. She was a true "Renaissance Woman" who excelled at everything she put her hands to. As a self taught artist, she specialized in pastel portraits.
In 1966 she was the founder and first President of the North Syracuse Art Guild. Helene was personable and outgoing, she made friends where ever she went. She was an avid gardener who often entertained friends and family in her large and beautiful back garden.
Helene was the Owner/Operator of Bright Idea Home Lighting Center before retiring to enjoy her hobbies, home and family.
She was a member of the Syracuse University Dames in the 1950's, and later, the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce.
Twice married, she was predeceased by her first husband, Francis M. Benware in 1984 and her second husband, William A. Hilton in 2001. She is survived by a son, Francis G. (Dan Reagan) Benware; two daughters, Helene B. Wienclawski and Constance M. (Paul Casto) Luhrs; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren; two sisters, June Elliot and Sylvia Rockness.
