Helen Marie Brooks, 70 of Hastings died Tuesday at home. Mrs. Brooks was an award winning quilter and founder of the Plank Road Quilt Guild in N. Syracuse. She was also an accomplished seamstress, she also enjoyed painting, ceramics and travelling. She was predeceased by her parents, Howard and Rena Evans and a sister, Hazel Tataro.
Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Floyd W. Brooks, Jr.; three sons, Raymond (Kelly) of Brewerton, Ronald of Vidalia, Ga and David (Michelle) Brooks of Cicero; a daughter, Susan (John Olesh) of New Port Richie, Fl; three brothers, William of Rome, Clarence of Floyd, NY and Donald Evans of Portsmith, Va; two sisters, Beverly Magyar of Rome and Joyce LaMaque of Floyd; nine grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Services will be Friday, 10 AM at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St. N. Syracuse. Burial will follow at North Syracuse Cemetery. Calling Hours will be Thursday from 4-7PM, at the funeral home.
