Helen J. Johnson, 87 of N. Syracuse passed away on Wednesday. She was a member of the North Syracuse Baptist Church, the Syracuse Rose Society and Syracuse Sail & Power Squadron. She was a WWII Veteran serving in the Navy, as a nurse.
Mrs. Johnson retired as a Private Duty Nurse working in various area nursing homes and home care. She enjoyed her family, gardening, cooking and music. She was predeceased by a daughter, Melanie, J. Soderberg who passed in 2008.
Surviving are her husband of 63 years, William B. Johnson, Jr.; a son, Franklin Johnson; a daughter, Gail Payne; a son-in-law, David Soderberg; five grand-children and three great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be Friday from 6-8PM at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse. On Saturday, Helen's family will receive family and close friends from 10-11AM at the North Syracuse Baptist Church. Services will be Saturday, 11AM at the North Syracuse Baptist Church (MacKinney Hall). Burial will follow at the North Syracuse Cemetery.
