Gwyn Angela Blew Comstock
July 5, 2013
Gwyn Angela Blew Comstock, 58, widow of Robert C. (Bob) Comstock, went to be with her Lord on Friday, July 5th of 2013. Her brave 3 year battle against cancer ended quietly in hospice at Francis House in Syracuse, where she spent her final 6 months.
Gwyn is survived by many who loved her, including: brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Deborah Blew of Rock Hill, SC; sister and brother-in-law Barbara (Blew) and Thomas Ray of Holtville, CA; sister and brother-in-law Penelope (Blew) and Lawrence Richardson of Bridgeport; nieces and nephew Katherine, Colleen and Benjamin Lauffer and his wife Nicole Monte; nephews Cameron and Zachary Blew; in-laws Barbara (Comstock) and Ronald Sinning of Port Leyda; Nancy (Comstock) and Ray Sheimer of Brush Prairie, WA; nieces Deborah (Sinning) and husband Kelly Landers of Fayetteville; Susan (Sinning) and Larry Myers of Oxford; in-laws Vicky (Clark) and Armin Hanjian of Oak Bluffs, MA; Gregory Clark of Afton; Craig and Carol Clark of Littleton, CO; Dawn (Clark) and Brian Maletsky of NJ; stepchildren Cynthia (Comstock) and Paul Winkelmann and children of Thomaston, CT; Sally Comstock Frederick and children of Bainbridge; and Molly Comstock of Albany; adopted son and daughter Antonio and Antonia Zaragosa and children of Mexico, friends Joseph and Gregory Valentine of Afton; and Peggy Clark of Greene.
Many will remember Gwyn for the work she loved at The Deposit Closet, where she was Co-director with June Cook for years. Gwyn and Bob were known for their dedication in serving others, both at home and in Mexico and Central America. They collected medical and school supplies for clinics, schools and orphanages in Central America, as well as making trips to build or reroof and repair those structures. They were among the first on the scene to assist neighbors in the Afton/Deposit area during times of flood and trouble. Love for children and youth found expression in leading the youth group at the Deposit United Methodist Church for years, including trips and outings like canoe trips on the Delaware River.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, July 27th at 11 AM at the Deposit United Methodist Church, on the corner of Second and Dean Streets. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Gwyn's memory be mailed to Francis House, 108 Michaels Ave, Syracuse, NY 13208.
