Grace G. Snyder

Grace G. Snyder, 94, passed away Sunday, August 22, 2021 at the Masonic Care Home in Utica, NY, where she had been a resident for the past several years. She was born in Syracuse, NY to the late Frances (Elmer) and Joseph Sauer.

She married Philip E. Snyder, Jr. in 1945. He passed away in 2001. They lived for many years in Syracuse, Elmira, Utica, Horseheads, Scranton and finally Liverpool, NY.

Grace was a talented homemaker and also a life member and past President and Chaplain of the Women's Auxillary of VFW Post 9596 on Taft Road. She enjoyed her church and made a practice of attending daily mass until she took up residence at the Masonic Home.

She is survived by her daughters, Sharyn Gibbons (Jack) of Liverpool, NY and Doreen Herman (Bill) of Pensacola, FL; grandchildren, Dr. Michelle Johnston (Ron) of Old Forge, Philip Gibbons (Eva) of Hamilton, Christy Hopper (Kevin) of Cazenovia, Katherine Yelverton (Nick) of Roanoke, VA, Rebecca McCorkle (Zak) of Salem, VA; along with eight great grandchildren, Ashley, Brittany, Madison, Aiden, Connor, Liam, Asher, Alivia and Oliver.

She was predeceased by her son, Philip E. Snyder, III.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, August 30th 6-8 PM at New Comer Cremations & Funerals in North Syracuse. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 31st 11 AM at the funeral home with burial to follow in Assumption Cemetery in Syracuse.

In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to consider donations to the Alzheimer's Association, 441 W. Kirkpatrick St., Syracuse, NY 13204 or to VFW Post 9596, 6996 E. Taft Rd., East Syracuse, NY 13057 in her memory.

Grace's family would like to send a very sincere and heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful and caring folks at the Masonic Care Community, especially the very considerate staff at the Health Pavillion.
