March 5, 1929 — June 26, 2018
Gordon MacArthur, 89, a long-time resident of Syracuse, NY passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at St. Joseph's Hospital on Tuesday, June 26, 2018. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Gordon was born on March 5, 1929 and raised in Buffalo, NY. He proudly served in the Korean War and subsequently attained his law degree from Syracuse University. Gordon practiced law both independently and for the United States government. He retired at the age of 65.
Gordon is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Irmi Shoninger-MacArthur; son, Hugh MacArthur; daughter, Betsy Braun; step-daughters, Ina (John) DiGangi, Wendy (Michael) Sherman and Stephanie (Eric) Gay; eleven grandchildren dn three great-grandchildren.
Gordon will be remembered for his quick wit and compassionate spirit. He was a voracious reader, history buff and crossword puzzle enthusiast.
As per Gordon's wishes, no memorial services will be held.
