Gordon "Gordy" Whitham

Gordon "Gordy" Whitham, 87, of Bridgeport, passed away on Friday August 23, 2024, with family by his side. Gordy was born in Niagara Falls on December 19, 1936, son of the late George and Winifred (Smith) Whitham of Sheffield England. Gordy served in the US Navy from 1954-57 on the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Lexington. Gordy followed in the family career of construction and excavation with the company he owned building many bridges and highways throughout New York State. Gordy was forever optimistic with life and greatly enjoyed his grandchildren, nature, telling stories and a good restaurant. He would be the first to tell anyone he had a wonderful life. 

He was predeceased by his wife Mary Katherine and his daughter Elizabeth Whitham, 3 brothers George Jr., Frank and Jack Whitham, 2 sisters Kathleen Wells and Alice Young. 

He is survived by 2 daughters, Eileen (James) Scholefield, Laura (Thomas) Tucci, his son, Steven (Brook) Whitham, along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Saturday September 7, 2024, from 10-12 noon at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse with services at 12 noon. Burial will follow at North Syracuse Cemetery.
