Gilbert A. Odjick, of Florida, formerly of Syracuse, passed away Friday Mar. 14th from a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Maniwaki, Quebec to the late William and Katherine (Riel) Odjick, Gilbert was an Iron Worker for Ironworkers Local 60 in Syracuse. Gilbert was also a member of the Mattydale American Legion Post 1832 and Fraternal Order of Eagles Club # 2104 in Florida. Gilbert was a wonderful father, father-in-law, husband, Grandpa, brother and friend who loved to be around his family. He enjoyed golf and loved to travel.
He was also predeceased by his wife, Patricia; his brothers, Raymond, William, Robert and Basil and his sister, Florence Erardi.
Survivors include his children, Gilbert A. Jr., Karen A., Linda M. (Ed) Lawton, Donna L. (Jim) Exner, and Jeneen R. (Richard) Wiggins; his brother, Joseph Chausse; his sister, Bernice Commanda; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be 9-11am with a funeral service at 11am on Sat. Apr. 5 at New Comer Funeral Home, N. Syracuse. Burial at Assumption Cemetery.
Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or a Hospice of your choice.
