On Tuesday, March 29 2022, Gertrud Ruggaber passed away at the age of 87.

Gertrud was born on November 7, 1934, in Heidelberg, Germany.

She met her lifelong love while exuberantly dancing to the music of The Glenn Miller Orchestra. She married Felix Ruggaber (predeceased) and emigrated to North America, settling in Syracuse, NY. Gertrud became a hairdresser who loved her clients as friends. Her cooking skills of German specialties were top notch, and she enjoyed serving her family and friends at Sunday dinners and holidays. She had a special place in her heart for children and would always take time to show them love.

Gertrud is survived by her three children, Kurt (Christine Davis) Ruggaber, Gabriele (Jerry) Rapp, and Christine (Christopher) Wood; her grandchildren Justin Ruggaber, Kerry Bottoni, Phillip and Sean Rapp, and Connor and Logan Wood. Gertrude was the only member of her family to leave her homeland of Germany.

She was predeceased by her sisters Wilma, Lieselotte, infant/baby Gertrud, Anna; brothers Horst and Karl, and survived by her sister Helga.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals on Sunday, April 24th from 1-4pm. Graveside Services will take place at Collamer Cemetery in DeWitt on Monday, April 25th, 11am.
