Gerald "Jerry" Gilbert

Gerald "Jerry" Gilbert, 48, passed away Sunday after a long battle with cancer. Jerry has finally "Gone Fishin'". Jerry attended Cicero High School where he was a member of the 1976-'79 Marching Band. He graduated from SUNY Morrisville with a degree in Musical Instrument Repair and was the founder and owner of Empire Winds, well known in CNY for its state of the art brass and woodwind repairs. Jerry was an avid fisherman and could be found on his bass boat most weekends.
He is survived by his parents Ben and Judie Gilbert of Haines City, FL. He is also survived by his son Joseph, daughter Kayla, and their mother Kara Spingola Gilbert as well as his brother Jeffrey (Paula) of Buffalo NY and his nieces Jennifer and Alison.
Jerry and his family would like to thank the kind staff at Brittonfield Hematology and Oncology as well as the Hospice staff of CNY for their wonderful care and concern during his battle.
Services will be Saturday 12PM at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse. Calling Hours will be Friday from 4-7PM and Saturday from 10-12PM at the funeral home.
