Rex Graves, 69, of Bridgeport, passed away on Friday at St. Joseph's Hospital. Rex was born in Herkimer on May 16, 1952 son of the late George and Edith Graves. George retired from Walmart Distribution Center in Marcy. Rex was a storyteller who wrote childrens stories, a musician who wrote sappy love songs, and possibly the world's first hipster. No body ever disliked him and his mustache was legendary. In his early years, Rex had a love for music, he had his own band, United Smile & Co. and he enjoyed golfing.
George was predeceased by his sister, Sandy DeCarr.
He is survived by loving wife, Jean Graves, son, Ezra (Aubrie) Graves, daughter, Marie (Joe) Graves, stepchildren, Donna Drissi, Michele Dobrzenski, Deborah (Jeff) Boysen, Ronald (Kelly) Dobrzenski, 15 grandchildren Treigh, Zane, Stella, Orion, Pablo, Brandon, Stephanie, Anthony, Cassidy, Alex, Paulina, Brady, Nick, Shawn, Vivian, 10 great grandchildren, sister, Cindy (Derek) Woertendyke, brother-in-law, Wayne DeCarr, his cousin Judy Graves Miller, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
