George A. McLoughlin, 76, of Clay, passed away Sunday at St. Joseph's Hospital after a short illness, with his family by his side. He was born in Utica, the son of Arthur and Ruth McLoughlin and graduated summa cum laude from Utica College with a BA in Accounting. He retired in 1990 as a Chief Examiner for the NYS Audit & Control of Municipal Affairs with 32 years of service. George was an Army Veteran of the Korean War and his hobbies were fishing and gardening.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sandra Ann Buttenschon McLoughlin; 3 sons, Walter A. (Michelina), James A. (Deborah) and Robert A. (Cheryl) McLoughlin; 9 grandchildren, George A. McLoughlin II, Erin McLoughlin, Alan Sherman, Jamie McLoughlin, Crystal Sherman, Patrick McLoughlin, Brittany McLoughlin, Robert McLoughlin Jr. and Nicholas McLoughlin; 4 great grandchildren, Olivia Shoop, Joshua Lent, Ryan McLoughlin and George A. McLoughlin III; a sister Mary (William) Wright; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be Saturday, 9:30AM at Sacred Heart Church, Cicero. Calling Hours will be Friday from 4-7PM at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse.
