Genevieve Orbon

January 20, 1954 — September 23, 2022

Genevieve Ruth (Marleau) Orbon, 68, of Liverpool, finished her race on September 23, 2022 after a courageous seven year battle with aggressive multiple myeloma.

Genevieve was born in Utica, NY, on January 20, 1954, to the late Thomas and Helen (Brownell) Marleau. Her family lived in Chazy, Lake George and Baldwinsville, NY. She graduated from C. W. Baker High School in 1972.

Genevieve gave her life to Christ in 1974 and dedicated the rest of her life to service in varied and numerous ministries of Living Word Church. She and her sister pioneered a nursery to babysit children whose mothers volunteered at Living Word Academy, when it opened in 1979. In 1981, she spearheaded a pre-school program for the school, developing a curriculum and creating many learning materials by hand. She continued teaching pre-school through the early 1990's, but throughout the years also taught art classes, American Sign Language, and 8th grade science, until 2004. She taught Sunday School to 4 year olds for 14 years, through August of 2022.

Genevieve worked for National Nail for several years, then in the call center for Suburban Propane, retiring in 2017.
She was a gifted artist, who loved drawing, painting, playing the piano and ukulele, singing in the choir, knitting, crocheting, and sewing. She had a great sense of humor, loved practical jokes, teasing, and giving loving pinches. She wrote numerous songs—some inspired by humor, some by love, and others inspired by God. After making her daughter's wedding gown, in 1995, she custom made and altered wedding gowns for countless brides— never taking a dime, instead requesting they donate to the Yanadhi Home for Children in India. Her final gown was completed in June of 2022.

She was an amazingly loving and tender Grammy who spoiled her 12 grandchildren with lots of Legos, movie dates, handmade costumes, painting, crafts, decorating gingerbread houses, cookie days, singing silly songs, reading books, playing music, and many other activities.

In addition to her parents, Genevieve was predeceased by two brothers, George (Barb) Marleau, and Joel (Patty) Marleau.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth J. Orbon; her children Jessica (Jeff) Reals, Joshua (Jennifer) Brown, Joey (Jen) Brown, and Amanda (Rigoberto) Reyes; 12 beloved grandchildren: Shannon, Noah, and Wyatt Reals; Samantha, Simon, and Clara Brown; Collin, Logan, and Mason Brown; and Brianna, Ricardo, and Armando Reyes; two sisters, Johann (Michael) Jones, Theresa (Paul) Oderman; a brother, Jude Marleau; a brother-in-law Richard (Peggy) Orbon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
