Gary W. Collins, 70, of Liverpool, passed away on Thursday with family at his side. He was an Army Veteran serving in the Vietnam War. Gary was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the Liverpool American Legion Post 188, serving as their Chaplain. He also volunteered at Birchwood for many years.
He is predeceased by his son, Michael and his father, Alonzo.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Susan "Sue" Smith; his mother, Doris; a daughter, Heidi (Scott) Claxton; a brother, Richard; a sister, Susie (Bill) Poworoznek; a brother in law, Bill Smith; three grandchildren, S. Michael, Shawn and Sarah Claxton; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling Hours will be Saturday from 2-5PM at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse. Services will be Monday, 10 AM at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Liverpool. Burial will follow at the Onon. Co. Veteran's Memorial Cemetery.
