Gary Dean Raymond Sr., 84, a lifelong resident of Central New York, passed away following an illness of several months on January 17, 2025, with his daughter, son-in-law and their children at his bedside.
Following graduation from Fulton, N.Y. High School in 1958, he served in the U.S. Coast Guard as a boatswain’s mate from 1958-60, followed by serving in the C.G. Reserves from 1960-65. He was employed at Fulton Sealright (now Huhtamaki) in supply and distribution, retiring after 44 years.
Gary was predeceased by his former wife, Gloria Raymond Pitcher of Fulton; parents Alvin & Adelaide Raymond of Fulton; brothers Dalton Raymond of Syracuse, NY; Claude Raymond of Sarasota, FL; Glen Raymond of West Melbourne, FL; Ross Raymond of Boerne, TX; a sister Eleanor Raymond Elkins of Boerne, TX; brother-in-law E. Alan Silver of West Winfield, NY, and close friend, Helen Lehmann of Oswego, NY.
Following his retirement, Gary lived a quiet life in Fulton where he enjoyed watching television, searching out antiques, reminiscing about old cars, and engaging in woodworking and furniture restoration.
He is survived by his brother Robert Raymond (Bette) of Brookville, OH; sons Gary Raymond, Jr., of Geneva, NY, and David Raymond (Janelle) of Fort Mills, SC; daughter Karen Raymond (Mourad Benhassen) and family of East Syracuse, NY; brother-in-law, Frederick Pitcher of Fulton; and sisters-in-law, Patricia Duciaume and Margaret Guyer both of Fulton.
A Graveside Service is planned for the Spring at Jackson Rural Cemetery in Phoenix, NY with details to follow.
