Gary L Foster, 60,of Syracuse, went home to be with the Lord on Friday. He was a graduate of North Syracuse High School and attended SUNY College of Forestry. He served with the 174th Air National Guard with an honorable discharge. Gary loved the outdoors and took great joy in camping, kayaking, biking, skiing and snowshoeing. As an Eagle Scout, he enjoyed helping with Boy Scout Troop 210 of Kirkville. He worked for many years as a maintenance worker at Mount St James in Syracuse and gained many friends through his work. He was loved for his kind heart and gentle spirit. He is predeceased by his loving wife, Donna; his father and mother, Theodore and Margaret Foster; his stepmothers, Louise (Sergeant) Foster and Jane (Newton) Foster; his stepbrother, Louis Sergeant.

He is survived by his brother, Bruce (Cheryl) Foster of Kirkville; his stepsisters, Barbara (Richard) Young of East Syracuse and Susan (Charles) Manro of Baldwinsville; his stepbrothers, Jim (Liz) Sergeant of Arizona and Jack (Linda) Newton of Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial service will be held on Friday, 7 PM at the First United Church of East Syracuse, 823 Franklin Park Dr., East Syracuse. A private burial will be held for the family.

Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Catholic Charities, 1654 W. Onondaga St., Syracuse, NY 13204.
