Gary R. Bixler

Gary R. Bixler, of Bridgeport, NY, passed away on July 12, 2020. He was born in Lancaster, PA, the son of Edith and Richard Bixler.
Gary leaves behind his wife, Sharon, and a sister, Charlene Linehan. Gary was the father of five children, Ann Marie, Charlene, Amy, Gary and John; grandchildren, Erica, Amanda, Ashley, Bryan, Anthony, and Andrew; two stepsons, Paul and Eric; and several nieces and nephews.
Gary served in the Army and did two tours in Vietnam. He was 82nd Airborne and Special Forces- Green Beret. He also was a LRRP (Long Range Reconnaissance Person) looking for POW camps and the Viet Cong. Gary received two Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star, and was a lifetime member of the VFW. Gary loved his country and Brother's in Arms. He was a machinist, and owned and operated his own trucking company. He loved fishing, boating, golfing, bowling, and going to Florida in the winters.
A graveside service will take place at Bridgeport Cemetery on Veteran's Day, November 11, 2021, 11AM. A celebration of life be at the South Shore Association, 6690 S. Bay Rd., Cicero, NY, 13039, immediately after services.
