Gary J. Baron, 84, of Fulton, NY passed away from multiple health issues on Wednesday, April 12, 2023. Gary was born in Syracuse, the youngest son out of 4 boys to the late Oscar and Clara Lehnert Baron. He graduated from N. Syracuse High School and after did an Engineering Apprenticeship Program with GE. He later took a position as a Draftsman at Crouse Hinds, a job he thoroughly enjoyed for over 30 yrs.
Gary loved to learn new things and had a variety of interests in his lifetime. As a young boy he spent many hours building models of cars and especially planes. He had a huge interest in aviation through the years and in his young adulthood participated in and went to many model airplane shows. In high school he enjoyed being a part of a pit crew for his brother, Ron's, Alter-modified drag racing team. At the age of 20 Gary's father passed way. Gary stepped up and took on the responsibility for the care of his mother and his childhood home in N. Syracuse until her passing in 1981.
In 1982 Gary married Judith Stoddard. They were married for 40 years. Gary enjoyed working on their home and around their yard. He was an avid reader from non-fiction to science fiction. He always enjoyed a good meal and of course his favorite part was dessert. Gary found he had a passion for antiques and understanding the history behind them. He went to many Bouckville Antique Festivals and made friends with multiple antique dealers. He also enjoyed going to the Amish Country in Lancaster County, PA. He was a communicant of Holy Trinity Church in Fulton as well.
Gary was a very devoted husband and family man. He will always be remembered as gentle and caring with an easy going personality. He will be missed by us all.
Gary was also predeceased by his brother, Alan Baron of Arizona in 2022 and another brother, Richard Baron of East Syracuse 2018.
Gary is survived by his wife, Judith Stoddard Baron of Fulton, A brother, Ronald Baron of North Carolina, His Step Children, Joanne Trovato-Jones (Jamie) of Fulton, Theresa Giarrosso (Bob) of Cicero, Joseph Trovato (Tammy) of Fulton, 14 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a graveside service on Wednesday, April 19th at 1:30 pm at Assumption Cemetery 2401 Court St., Syracuse, NY 13208. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to: Clear Path For Veterans, Inc. 1223 Salt Springs Road, Chittenango, NY 13037.
